Aeropuerto La Aurora is one of the major Guatemala International airports. The other Guatemala International airport is the Flores that receives flights from Mexico, Cancun and Belize City. The Guatemalan national airline is one of the parts of the regional group. It is in association with El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The aviation authorities do not comply with the safety standards on the international aviation.
The Santa Elena is also called as Flores airport and TACA is the airline that operates regular flights from Guatemala to the capital and also offers cheap flights to Guatemala at certain times.The airlines flying from and to Guatemala are American airlines, Continental airlines, Cubana, Delta airlines, Copa airlines, Iberia, Lacsa, Maya Island air, Mexicana, Tropic air, TACA and United airlines.
The airports in Guatemala are featured with all the requirements that any traveler would expect. Two Belizean airlines namely Maya island air and Tropic air fly twice to and from the Belize City and charge US$103 for each way. This is a one-hour trip. Travelers traveling on shoe-string budget or travelers desiring for cheap flights to Guatemala should certainly wait for late night flights to avail this facility.
However, a flexible itinerary will be of great assistance in traveling at inexpensive airfares.
